Bardsey Bird & Field Observatory Founded in 1953 BBFO is the only fully accredited observatory in Wales. The only sizeable Welsh offshore island in the north, Bardsey is also the most beautiful and diverse.

Powdermill Nature Reserve One of the best ringing (banding) sites on the web. Located in the Allegheny Mountains Section of the Appalachian Plateau Province of Pennsylvania in the USA, this reserve is a centre for education and research. Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is the largest international wetland conservation charity in the UK. Founded in 1946 by the artist and naturalist Sir Peter Scott (1909 - 1989), WWT has 9 visitor centres around the UK, where people can get closer to wetland birds and enjoy spectacular wetland landscapes.

Countryside Survey 2000 This is a major audit of the British countryside. It has involved both detailed field observations and satellite imagery which has provided a complete land cover census for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Mammal Society The mission of the Mammal Society is to work to protect British mammals, to halt the decline of threatened species, and to advise on all issues affecting British Mammals. We study mammals, we identify the problems that they face and we advocate conservation and other policies based on sound science.
